Christ Bible Church is a Reformed Baptist Church located in the heart of East Tennessee. CBC is exactly what the name suggests. It is a unique church made up of men, women, and children who have been changed by the power of the gospel. Throughout the week we intentionally gather together (Church) to minister the Word of God (Bible) through Exercising our Gifts in the Power of the Spirit and Love with one another. That ranges anywhere from the Expository Preaching in our main service to the Fellowship we have throughout the week. Our desire is to GROW TOGETHER as we GO TOGETHER. We long to see East Tennessee and Southwest Virginia transformed by the Power of the Gospel. All this is “To honor Christ!” At CBC we desire to elevate the name of Christ by trusting Him, growing together, and applying the truths of the Bible to our daily lives.
What to Expect
When you first come to Christ Bible Church we hope a few things stick out above the rest. One of those things is the Ministry of the Word. Expository Preaching is the center of all the activity at Christ Bible Church. We believe that when the Word of God is proclaimed, believed, and applied that it transforms individuals to look, act, and sound more like Jesus Christ.
Not only is this relevant to the preaching, but to the music ministry as well. Here at CBC we believe in Christ-Honoring Music. We do not ascribe to one music style in particular, but evaluate each song based upon Christ-Honoring Criteria. We prefer songs that Explain the Nature of God, Expound the Word, & Evangelize the Lost. We believe music is to assist in the propagation of the Word of God and therefore should be simple and beautiful so that is does not take away from the message. When you come to CBC you can expect the congregation to worship God together through the singing of Psalms, Hymns, & Spiritual Songs.
At CBC a you will find a Family-type Atmosphere. The Scripture teaches that we, as Christians are Brothers and Sisters in Christ. We’re Family. The saving work of Christ has brought us together to build meaningful relationships. Our hope is that you will not slip in the service and slip out the back, but that we would get know each other on a more personal basis in order to more effectively minister to each other and together, we can reach our community for Christ.
This Family-type Atmosphere is clearly translated into the Sunday Morning Worship Service. Our Sunday morning worship service is what we consider to be a Family Integrated Service. This means that we intentionally gather together as complete families during these meetings. We have a nursery available for any needs that our families may have, but at the same time it is not staffed because we value our entire church worshiping together, including the little ones! This means that our services can be what some may consider “unconventional”, but we believe this is the Biblical model. We understand that small children may cry and/or make noise during the service and that’s understandable. We believe it is the opportune time for parents to train their children in the nurture and admonition of the Lord according to our Lord’s command. This looks like parents teaching their children how to worship the Lord through example, instruction, and correction. The church supplies activity bags, sermon note templates for kids, and/or a helping hand from one of our members if needed! We are convinced that having our children in the worship service will not only have a temporal impact upon them, but an eternal impact also!
